Zebulon Middle School uses Prowl tickets as a way of encouraging students to follow the PROWL guidelines.
Prowl tickets are meant to inspire students to want to work harder and behave better.
“Prowl Tickets are cool; you get to go on field trips,” eighth grader, Michael Russo, said.
When students receive a prowl ticket, they are then allowed to put it in a drawing for prizes.
Though prowl tickets seem to be a great way of showing appreciation, it still has some problems.
“So my friend got a prowl ticket for getting a hundred on his algebra test in Mrs. Dewberry, but I got nothing in Mrs. Myers when I got my hundred,” Russo said.
If students receive a certain amount of prowl tickets, they are allowed to go on a field trip.
“I remember all the field trips for prowl in sixth grade, but after that prowl tickets were just a waste of paper,” Russo said.
Eighth grade teacher, Eddie Kemp, says it’s hard to remember to pass out prowl tickets.
“I always forget. If you were a teacher you would understand,” Kemp said
Eighth Grade teacher, Susan Myers, explains her problem.
“I usually have a sheet of prowl tickets with me, but with all the students with I’s I have to deal with I have no time,” Myers said.
Myers agrees that teachers should make more of an effort as a way to reward good work.
When properly used prowl tickets are meant to be a reward for students with good behavior and academic success.
